WeChat is the place to be if you want to market to China. And it is very different from LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, as Mike Golden explains to James Lumley.

“China has a few social media platforms,” says Mike Golden, who runs marketing agency Brandigo’s China practice.

Facebook and X are banned in China, and LinkedIn left last year. Instead, they have homegrown platforms.

“There is Little Red Book, and TikTok’s sister platform called Douyin, but the place to be is WeChat.”
