Fight Club: Coaching v Doing. What should my skillset and role focus on?

The PM Forum’s infamous Fight Club format returns with a face-off between two champions of professional services business development and marketing with a beef to settle.

In the red corner, Claire “The Razor” Rason, founder of the coaching-powered strategy and client listening consultancy Client Talk. She will argue that firms need marketers and business developers who can coach fee-earners, and that we add most value when we are helping them understand what clients need and how they build relationships that make a difference.

In the blue corner, Charlotte “The Mean Machine” Green, head of clients and markets at international law firm Gowling WLG, who will contend that marketers should focus on delivering tangible outputs and business developers should be establishing direct connections with clients if they want to be taken seriously.

The two contenders will step into the ring for several rounds of hard-fought, no-holds-barred combat for the coveted title of the Forum’s Fight Club Champ. The audience will also have the opportunity to get involved, asking tough questions to help establish whether shifts in the market and the rise of new technologies mean that developing a career in professional services business development and marketing will take a new set of skills and capabilities.

Join us for what promises to be an epic match-up of marketing icons, during which you will learn what skills you need to focus on developing in order to be successful in the future.
