“Now, here’s an idea,” announced my managing partner, theatrically. “A drinks party with no drinks.”
It was the monthly meeting, and we’d been discussing how we might get the firm’s staff together to cheer them up at an austere time of the year.
MP paused so that we could admire his paradox, before elaborating.
“Of course, I don’t mean no drinks at all – just not alcoholic ones. I’ve been talking to Harry about how we could help promote his charity. And I thought this would be a good way to have some fun but also show our support for a good cause. We’d get him along to give a pep talk. Or should it be pop-talk, ha ha ha.”
